About Cliff Thompson

Cliff Thompson believes in getting out and being
involved with the constituents he serves.

Cliff Thompson is not your your typical politician. He became involved in public service in the mid 90's when as a concerned citizen, he believed the Taft city council made some bad decisions affecting the city's future. When Cliff questioned one of the council members on their decision they replied, "unless you want to run for council you have no right to question my vote." Cliff took that as a challenge and started becoming more involved in his community.

During his tenure, Cliff Thompson has served as both mayor and a councilmember for the city of Taft. He feels that of all his accomplishments, these are the ones he holds closest to his heart:

Balancing the city budget (don't spend more than than you make):

Increasing the number of police officers, and paying them a competive wage;

Fighting LA on the sludge issue;

Working to expand Taft's sphere of influence;

Beautification of Taft and SR 119;

Code enforcement (abatement of substandard buildings);

SR 119 safety task force;

Joint powers code enforcement with the County of Kern.

Cliff believes he can bring his passion and hard work ethic to the entire fourth district. In short, Cliff will do more and he will do a better job than the incumbant.
